The solution
is to reduce
not just offset.

Carbon offsetting at a large scale can be inefficient and only masks the problem.

We need to reduce our carbon emissions as much as possible and only offset what we cannot reduce.

Without doing so, the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere doesn’t change. And there isn’t enough space on the planet to plant the number of trees required to offset all emissions.

Sustainable digital advertising is an excellent opportunity to reduce your online carbon footprint. Particularly when it doesn’t compromise performance.

What about renewable energy?

This does help reduce the carbon footprint of the internet. However, renewables only account for around 40% of the UK’s energy supply and 20% of the USA. Meaning the energy requirements of the internet still have a substantial carbon footprint.
